Overview
Matters.Cloud provides a simple to use facility to import existing matter data when migrating from third party applications.
The following file formats are supported:
- Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)
- Comma Separated (.csv)
Import Process
Step 1: Download Import Format
To download the import format, select Matters > All matters and locate the Import button:
Download the appropriate Template using the links provided:
Step 2: Populate File Content
Populate the template with matter data exported from your third-party application.
The matter import template includes the following fields:

| matter_code | Matter reference/code from the source system |

| open_date | Matter opening date |
| matter_type | Matter type |
| location | Office/location reference |
| department | Department reference |
| activity_code_set | Activity code set reference |
| expense_code_set | Expense/disbursement code set reference |
| estimated_hours | Estimated hours for the matter |
| estimated_fees | Estimated fees value |
| estimated_expenses | Estimated expenses/disbursements value |
| billing_arrangement | Billing arrangement type |
| rate_type | Billing/rate type |
| invoice_profile | Invoice profile reference |
| currency | Matter currency

Further fields can be imported where required, including billing, compliance, debt recovery, court, and service-related information.
Step 3: Import File
Select the file to import using the Choose File button and then click the Import button.
