How Do I Import Opportunities?
Overview
Matters.Cloud provides a simple to use facility to import existing opportunity data when migrating from third party applications.
The following file formats are supported:
- Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)
- Comma Separated (.csv)
Import Process
Step 1: Download Import Format
To download the import format, select Opportunities > All opportunities and locate the Import button:
Download the appropriate Template using the links provided:
Step 2: Populate File Content
Populate the template with opportunity data exported from your third-party application.
The opportunity import template includes fields such as:

| party_type | Type of party associated with the opportunity (e.g. Organisation or Individual) |
| party_name | Name of the client or organisation linked to the opportunity |
| name | Opportunity name or title |
| stage | Current stage of the opportunity (e.g. Initial, Qualification, Proposal, Negotiation, Decision or Closed) |
| matter_type | Type of legal matter associated with the opportunity |
| activity_code_set | Activity code set applied to the opportunity |
| expense_code_set | Expense/disbursement code set applied to the opportunity |
| estimated_hours | Estimated number of hours required for the opportunity |
| estimated_fees | Estimated fees value for the opportunity |
| estimated_expenses | Estimated expenses or disbursements value |
| currency | Currency used for opportunity |
| owner | User responsible for managing the opportunity |
| year_group | Year group or reporting year associated with the opportunity |
| opposing_parties | Names of any opposing parties linked to the opportunity |
| opportunity_brief_summary | Short summary or overview of the opportunity |
| opportunity_outcomes | Expected or recorded outcome of the opportunity |
| value_of_property | Property value associated with the opportunity, where applicable |
| how_do_you_feel_about_our_service | Client feedback or satisfaction response regarding the service provided |
| seller_information | Details relating to the seller connected to the opportunity |
Step 3: Import File
Select the file to import using the Choose File button and then click the Import button.
