How Do I Import Time Records?
Overview
Matters.Cloud provides a simple to use facility to import existing time data when migrating from third party applications.
The following file formats are supported:
- Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)
- Comma Separated (.csv)
Import Process
Step 1: Download Import Format
To download the import format, select Time > All time and locate the Import button:
Download the appropriate Template using the links provided:
Step 2: Populate File Content
Populate the template with time entries exported from your third-party application.
The time import template includes fields such as:

| date | Time entry date |
| client_code | Client code from the source system |
| related_to | Record
type the time entry is linked to (e.g. Matter or Opportunity) |
| related_id | Matter or Opportunity reference from the source system |
| activity_code | Activity code from source system |
| owner | Time entry owner |
| rate | Hourly rate |
| currency | Currency of the time entry |
| hours | Number of hours recorded |
| billable_status | Billable status (e.g. Billable / Non-billable) |
| narrative | Description of the work performed |
| billed_amount | Amount billed |
| bill_status | Billing status |
Step 3: Import File
Select the file to import using the Choose File button and then click the Import button.
