Issue
When accessing NetDocuments on a Mac using the Safari browser, users may encounter issues logging in through the Matter > Documents tab within Matters.Cloud.
Despite successfully logging into NetDocuments in a standalone tab, users are prompted to log in again when accessing it via an embedded interface within another application. This issue stems from a Safari setting that prevents login details from being shared across applications when they are embedded.
Cause
The issue is caused by Safari's Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP) feature, which restricts the sharing of cookies and login details across different contexts. When NetDocuments is accessed within an embedded interface (such as within the Matter > Documents tab), Safari's ITP blocks the necessary cookies, resulting in repeated login prompts.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, follow these steps to adjust Safari's settings:
Open Safari Preferences:
- Launch Safari.
- Click on
Safari
in the menu bar at the top of the screen. - Select
Preferences
from the dropdown menu.
Navigate to Privacy Settings:
- In the Preferences window, click on the
Privacy
tab.
Disable Prevent Cross-Site Tracking:
- Uncheck the box next to
Prevent cross-site tracking
.
Close and Restart Safari:
- Close the Preferences window.
- Restart Safari to apply the changes.
Log in to NetDocuments:
- Open a new tab and log in to NetDocuments.
- Access NetDocuments through the Matter > Documents tab within Matters.Cloud to confirm the issue is resolved.
Summary
When accessing NetDocuments via the Matter > Documents tab in Safari, users may experience repeated login prompts due to Safari's Intelligent Tracking Prevention feature. By disabling the Prevent cross-site tracking
option in Safari's privacy settings, users can resolve this issue and ensure seamless access to NetDocuments across embedded interfaces.
