There are two options when setting up your initial integration with Xero:
- Import existing Customers from Xero into Matters.Cloud
- Export existing Clients and Invoices from Matters.Cloud to Xero
Option 1: Import From Xero
If you are an existing subscriber of Xero you may wish to import your existing Customers into Matters.Cloud.
Step 1: Access The Integrations Portal
The integrations portal allows you to configure integrations with common cloud-based platforms.
To access the portal simply select Setup > Integrations and locate the following tile:
Click the Import clients button on the Xero tile.
The system will display the following form:
Select one or more Customers and click the Import button to import them into Matters.Cloud.
Note: The import of existing Clients is limited to only those contacts with a Customer status within Xero.
Option 2: Export To Xero
If you are an existing subscriber of Matters.Cloud and have recently setup Xero you may wish to export your existing Clients to Xero.
Step 1: Access The Integrations Portal
The integrations portal allows you to configure integrations with common cloud-based platforms.
To access the portal simply select Setup > Integrations and locate the following tile:
Step 2: Export Existing Clients
Export your existing Clients by clicking the Export clients button on the Xero tile.
This will do the following:
- Create a new Contact within Xero for every selected Client within Matters.Cloud.
- Update Matters.Cloud so that any updates made to the Client going forward be published to Xero automatically.
Step 3: Export Existing Invoices
You can export existing Invoices from Matters.Cloud to Xero by clicking the Export invoices button on the Xero tile.
This will do the following:
- Create a new Invoice within Xero for every Invoice within Matters.Cloud that is related to a Client that also exists within Xero.
- Update Matters.Cloud so that any updates made to the Invoice going forward will be published to Xero automatically.
Notes:
- If you have previously entered Invoices manually into Xero it is not recommended to export them as it will create duplicate records within Xero.
- The export of either Clients or Invoices is limited to 50 records at a time in line with restrictions placed on using the Xero API. If you have more than 50 to export then you may need to run the process multiple times as it will only export clients and or invoices that have not previously been exported.
