Overview

There are two options when setting up your initial integration with FreeAgent:
  1. Import existing Projects from FreeAgent into Matters.Cloud .
  2. Export existing Clients & Matters from Matters.Cloud to FreeAgent.

Option 1: Import From FreeAgent

If you are an existing subscriber of FreeAgent you may wish to import your existing Contacts and Projects into Matters.Cloud.

Step 1: Access The Integrations Portal

The integrations portal allows you to configure integrations with common cloud-based platforms.

To access the portal simply select Setup > Integrations and locate the following tile:

Step 2: Import Projects

Click the Import projects button on the FreeAgent tile.

The system will display the following form:

Select one or more Projects and click the Import button to import them into Matters.Cloud.
Note: The import of existing Projects is limited to only those projects in an active status, if you wish to import historical projects, you will need to re-activate these within FreeAgent prior to running the import process.

Option 2: Export To FreeAgent

If you are an existing subscriber of Matters.Cloud and have recently setup FreeAgent you may wish to export your existing Clients and Matters to FreeAgent.

Step 1: Access The Integrations Portal

The integrations portal allows you to configure integrations with common cloud-based platforms.

To access the portal simply select Setup > Integrations and locate the FreeAgent tile.

Step 2: Export Existing Clients

Export your existing clients by clicking the Export clients button on the FreeAgent tile.

This will do the following:

  • Create a new Contact within FreeAgent for every Client within Matters.Cloud

  • Update Matters.Cloud so that any updates made to the Client going forward be published to FreeAgent automatically.

Step 3: Export Existing Matters

Export your existing Matters by clicking the Export matters button on the FreeAgent tile.

This will do the following:

  • Create a new Project within FreeAgent for every Matter within Matters.Cloud

  • Update matters.Cloud so that any updates made to the Matter going forward be published to FreeAgent automatically.

Note: The export of either Clients or Matters is limited to 50 records at a time in line with restrictions placed on using the FreeAgent API. If you have more than 50 to export then you may need to run the process multiple times as it will only export clients that have not previously been exported.
