Enabling the NetDocuments Panel in Outlook

Introduction



If your organisation has purchased ndMail, it is possible to display a NetDocuments panel within Microsoft Outlook. This allows for a more integrated experience and enables users to interact with NetDocuments directly from their Outlook interface. Please note that this is only available for Microsoft outlook classic.


Benefits of Enabling the NetDocuments Panel

Once activated, the panel provides a range of useful features:
  1. View a Workspace directly within Outlook

Access your NetDocuments workspaces without leaving Outlook.


  1. View Documents and Previews

See a list of documents and preview their contents directly in the panel.


  1. Right-Click for NetDocuments Options

Right-click on a document to access additional NetDocuments options.


  1. Drag and Drop Emails

Easily drag emails into the appropriate locations in NetDocuments.


How to Enable the NetDocuments Panel

This feature is not enabled by default. To activate it, you will need to manually update a setting in the Windows Registry.

Registry Edit Instructions

Step 1: Open the Registry Editor and navigate to:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NetDocuments\ndMail

Step 2: In the right-hand pane, right-click on any white space and select:

New > String Value

Step 3: Name the new string:

ShowOutlookPanels

Step 4: Double-click the new string and set the value data to:

True

Once this has been completed, restart Outlook. The NetDocuments panel should now appear, giving you direct access to your NetDocuments content from within Outlook.
